Indonesia\u2019s existing export ban and other restrictions on nickel, together with its close ties to Chinese steel producers that have invested in that country as a result of China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative, have resulted in significant distortions in the global market for nickel to the detriment of steel producers in the United States.
