{"id":5841,"date":"2022-05-25T15:34:33","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T15:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/steelorg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=5841"},"modified":"2022-05-25T15:34:33","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T15:34:33","slug":"brett-awarded-gary-medal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.steel.org\/2022\/05\/brett-awarded-gary-medal\/","title":{"rendered":"Brett Awarded Gary Medal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WASHINGTON, DC <\/strong>\u2013 The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced today that John Brett, CEO of ArcelorMittal North America, was awarded the industry\u2019s highest honor \u2014 the Gary Memorial Medal \u2014 at AISI\u2019s General Meeting in Washington, DC.\u00a0 Brett is a former chairman of the AISI Board of Directors and has held numerous other leadership roles on the AISI Board.<\/p>\n<p>In presenting the award, Leon Topalian, president and CEO of Nucor and current AISI chairman, said, \u201cI can\u2019t think of anyone more deserving of this honor than John. He is a tremendous leader and outspoken advocate for the steel industry. John\u2019s breadth of industry insight and tremendous understanding of the global marketplace have been critical for AISI and our members during a pivotal time for the steel industry. Thank you, John, for your dedication to our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The citation to Brett from the Board of Directors reads: \u201cFor his exceptional leadership, strategic thinking and commitment to advancing public policy issues critical to the future of the steel industry.
