Schmitt has been a member of AISI\u2019s Board of Directors since 2011, including as a past vice-chairman and chairman. He received AISI\u2019s highest honor, the Gary Medal, in 2016.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cChuck Schmitt has been an outspoken leader in the steel industry. He has helped raise the industry\u2019s profile on trade, energy, infrastructure, sustainability and ensuring steel remains the backbone of the manufacturing sector. His unwavering commitment to issues impacting the future of the American steel industry has helped keep our vital industry strong. His contributions and dedication to the industry have been a role model for us all. It is a privilege to have worked with Chuck for more than 14 years and I am proud to call him a friend.
