{"id":9928,"date":"2025-01-22T22:03:55","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T22:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/steelorg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=9928"},"modified":"2025-01-22T22:09:04","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T22:09:04","slug":"aisi-highlights-steel-industry-priorities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.steel.org\/2025\/01\/aisi-highlights-steel-industry-priorities\/","title":{"rendered":"AISI Highlights Steel Industry Priorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Sends Action Items to Administration and Congress<\/h3>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 <\/strong>The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) this week has reached out to senior policymakers in the Trump administration and key members of Congress with a blueprint highlighting the top steel industry priorities of AISI members for 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Dempsey, AISI president and CEO, said, \u201c2025 presents an opportunity for the new administration and Congress to take a holistic look at the key issues impacting steel manufacturing. As policymakers work to ensure America\u2019s national security and strengthen our economy, AISI is urging consideration of three sets of important policy priorities on trade, tax and regulation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, AISI\u2019s policy recommendations include measures that enhance existing trade measures to address foreign unfair trade practices, ensure common-sense regulations that foster innovation and implement tax policies to encourage new and continued investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSteel is essential to the everyday lives of all Americans \u2014 cars and trucks, the roads and bridges they drive on, home appliances and the electricity grid that powers them, and the entire energy sector, from oil and gas to wind, solar and nuclear energy, depend on steel,\u201d said Dempsey. \u201cThese policy recommendations will enable the continued success of the American steel industry and the jobs it supports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The full list of AISI policy priorities for the American steel industry can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steel.org\/2025\/01\/aisi-steel-priorities-2025\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">-####-<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact: Lisa Harrison<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>202.452.7115 \/\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:lharrison@steel.org\">lharrison@steel.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>AISI serves as the voice of the American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice.
